Graduation Requirements for Full-time Distance Learning Students
Graduation requirements have changed and there are different requirements for the graduating classes of 2011, 2012, and 2013. Please take a look at the requirements you will need to fulfill in order to earn a diploma.
Graduating on or before July 31, 2011

AIMS, AIMS dpa, and Stanford 10 Testing
All students planning to earn a diploma from Mesa Public Schools must take and pass the AIMS exams. High school students are given 5 opportunities to pass AIMS beginning the spring semester of the sophomore year. All full-time distance learning students are required to take Arizona state-mandated tests based on grade level. Career Options and Kuder Navigator
The Kuder Navigator helps students explore career options and make connections between coursework and the world of work. Students are introduced to portfolio development and course planning. Kuder Navigator also provides guided exploration through a Career Planning Timeline and it allows parents to play an important active role in their student’s planning process. Students who would like information regarding college information, scholarships and financial aid can go to Mesa High School’s Post Graduate Bulletin.

Students who are planning to attend a university must take a college entrance exam. Students may take both exams or they can choose to take either the ACT or SAT. They may take each exam as many times as they choose. Students can start taking the ACT or SAT in the spring semester of their junior year. The PSAT is only given once during the month of October. Students who are sophomores and juniors in high school can take this exam.

Athletes who are interested in playing college sports at NCAA Division I or II Schools must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse. Registration takes place during the junior year of high school.

Students who are planning to enroll at a community college must take an entrance exam called the Asset test. This placement exam is also used for students who are interested in enrolling in Concurrent Enrollment/Dual Credit classes. Seniors in high school who are planning to attend college after their high school diploma is earned must also take this entrance exam.

Students who are planning to attend an in-state university must take either the ACT or SAT college entrance exam. Students must also the following requirements:
16 core academic classes
- 4 English (Writing and Literature classes)
- 4 Math ( Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and Trig)
- 3 Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
- 2 Social Studies
- 2 World Languages
- 1 Fine Art

SAT score: 1040
