Technical Requirements

Students need a computer, Internet access, and an email address to complete courses through MDLP.

1) Computer Skills

Students should have a working knowledge of computers, basic word-processing skills, and experience using the Internet.

2) Internet Service Provider (access to the Internet)

Students/parents are responsible for obtaining a computer and an Internet Service Provider to connect to the Internet. Public computers located in libraries are not good solutions for distance learning courses because students cannot load software and plug-ins to view movies, hands-on interactivities, quizzes, and tests. A computer in good working condition that meets the following requirements is required to take online distance learning courses.

Note: MDLP Technical support is limited to specific issues regarding our courses and website. Any issues arising from the use of ISPs or browsers not recommended by MDLP must be addressed by the student's Internet Service Provider. MDLP technical support is not able to provide support for user installed software that may cause compatibility issues.

3) Computer Requirements

Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7		Macintosh OSX (PowerPC or Intel) A Windows computer is suggested
Internet connection - (Cable or DSL connection preferred) Monitor - 256 colors CD ROM 512mb RAM Internet Explorer 7 or above (Click here for information about using Mozilla's Firefox browser on a Windows computer.) System updates current QuickTime 7 for Windows Word Processing software such as WordPad, Microsoft Word, or ThinkFree Office MDLP installation CD - install web player and additional software		Internet connection - (Cable or DSL connection preferred) Monitor - 256 colors CD ROM 512mb RAM Firefox 3.5.2 (Note: Firefox 3.5.3 and Safari 4, or above will not allow the Authorware plug-in to be recognized. Users will need to install Firefox version 3.5.2 for plug-ins to work on a Mac.) System updates current QuickTime 7 for Macintosh Word Processing software such as Microsoft Word or ThinkFree Office MDLP installation CD - install web player and additional software

Please be aware that using AOL and MSN browsers will cause problems with distance learning quizzes, tests. If you use AOL or MSN to access the Internet, please minimize the AOL or MSN browser then open the Internet Explorer (Windows) browser or the Firefox (Macintosh) browser for distance learning courses. AOL users need to allow the MDLP website in order to receive email communication from us.

4) Software Requirements
